BRAD’S STORY
Brad Louis Sorrentino was full of life and had enough love to share with every person he touched. With his blue eyes, irreverent charm and contagious smile, Brad lit up the room and had a knack for winning over everyone he met. His fun sense of humor made him the comedian of the family.
From the moment Brad laced up his first pair of hockey skates at the age of 3, it was clear he was a gifted athlete. He excelled as a dedicated teammate and leader, achieving Little League All Star and Youth Hockey All Star. Wearing #10, he was a standout on the Brick Township High School varsity hockey team, helping lead the Green Dragons to two public school state championships.
Family was Brad’s passion. He was very proud of his two sons and it meant the world to him to be able to create precious memories with them. He cherished his role as their father and loved playing games, enjoying movie nights, fishing, crabbing and having adventures together. Brad loved family time, especially during the holidays. He had this infectious childlike wonder that made everything exciting.
In addition to his kids, Brad was also a newlywed. He was only married 11 months before his accident but the love they shared knew no boundaries. Brad was beyond proud to be a husband and loved his wife infinitely.
While at work, at the age of 32, Brad fell from his forklift and sustained a traumatic head injury from which he would never recover. His selfless act to give the gift of life as an organ donor saved the lives of many. Even in the darkest of times, Brad found a way to be a beacon of hope for his family and others.
The Sorrentino family finds comfort knowing that through his gift Brad lives on in others. Family members spread awareness about the life-saving benefits of organ and tissue donation by volunteering for NJ Sharing Network and sharing his story with high school students, including those at his alma mater. Team Sorrentino honors Brad’s legacy each year at NJ Sharing Network’s 5K Celebration of Life.
