HOPE’S STORY

Hope Wolf may not have lived a very long life, but it was filled with abundant love and her legacy continues today.  At 12 weeks pregnant, Hope’s parents found out that she had many problems that would likely lead to severe disability or a loss of life.  Believing she was a gift from God, they carried her to full term and treasured every kick and bump along the way. As her birthday approached, it became clear that Hope would not survive due to her skeletal dysplasia and the severe underdevelopment of her lungs.

February 6, 2014.  It was unknown if Hope would even survive the Cesarean, but as it concluded; there was the faintest of cries heard in the operating room.  What an incredible gift!  She spent a beautiful 90 minutes with her family, most of which were in her Mommy’s arms.  She heard a lifetime of “I love yous” and died peacefully before giving the gift of life.

Hope donated her liver cells and heart to the International Institute for the Advancement of Medicine, a partner of NJ Sharing Network.  It was beyond her family’s expectations to hear about Hope’s impact and influence on many staff at both locations, some even keeping her picture at their desk, as a reminder of why they do what they do.  Because of her, there is now a “Hope Bag”, a grab-and-go-bag with all necessary materials for an infant donation at NJ Sharing Network.

Hope has inspired many to become organ donors and live life to the fullest.  Her Mommy has been able to assist other women who find themselves in a difficult pregnancy and offer encouragement and support through one on one mentoring and large group speaking engagements. In Hope’s honor, her family has become advocates for the incredible gift of organ and tissue donation and has helped raise over $20,000 for NJ Sharing Network through the 5K Celebration of Life.  God has truly brought beauty from ashes in so many ways and her family is honored to have a front row seat to all that He is doing through Hope’s short but sweet life.
