JACOB’S STORY

Jacob Lowell Jimmerson was born in Las Vegas on October 21, 1993 and passed on April 5, 2019. He was a realtor and transportation dispatcher, selling some of the nicest homes in Nevada during his career. He also interned at Wynn Las Vegas in Hospitality and was a junior at UNLV, after attending George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Jacob was also an accomplished D.J., working local and regional gigs in California and Nevada as “JJ Gold.” He played guitar for years and enjoyed a variety of music genres (from hip-hop, to heavy metal). Being a huge fitness advocate, he not only enjoyed working out, but also rock climbing, skiing, sky diving and snowboarding. His last snowboarding adventure was in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where he conquered the world-renowned “Cresta Run.” Jacob was an adventurous, caring, courageous and diligent young man.

In 2018, he brought the “Moving Wall” to Las Vegas (a traveling Vietnam War Memorial). He coordinated production, which included multiple veterans’ radio programs and free meals to veterans in need. The event was attended by thousands, including dignitaries and speakers from across the U.S. Some of those in attendance were P.O.W. Jessica Lynch, Mayor Carolyn Goodman, L.T. Governor Kate Marshall, Attorney General Aaron Ford and Nevada Supreme Court Justices, Michael Cherry and Michael Douglas.

This showcased Jacob’s compassionate side and how bright, caring and fun he was. His personality and smile were infectious and inspired people to do more. He believed family was number one. He infinitely treasured his relationships with his brothers, Chad and James, and sister, Bentley. Jacob was loved by many, which was apparent by his standing room only celebration of life. Loved ones even stood outside because they wanted to be present.

Jacob’s choice to be an organ donor is one that he made after some thoughtful consideration.  He was a registered donor and his heart and liver saved two different individuals.  His decision to register as a donor was an unselfish, giving, and compassionate act, and one that has made his parents very proud.

“Losing our son has been the most devastating loss of our lives, and we still ache with his absence.   It has been devastating.  The gift of life that he had chosen to make in the wake of his own loss of life is the one positive, constructive, and lasting contribution that brings us some comfort.  We are happy for those two persons who hopefully will have their own lives prolonged, and we are grateful for Nevada Donor Network, who worked closely with UNOS and local transplant centers to give the precious gift of Jacob’s organs to save lives.”

Jacob will be remembered as a caring, loving and warm brother, cousin, coworker, friend, grandson, nephew, son and uncle. He left us with these touching words we’ll never forget, “In the night you will dream of so many things, but find the ones that bring you life, and you will find me, that’s where you will find me.”
